The protection of personal data and digital identities is not merely a technical issue, but a fundamental matter of trust, ethics, and legality. Every user, institution, or organisation is responsible for managing the information it processes. A lack of adequate security can lead to serious consequences, including data breaches, legal and regulatory repercussions, reputational damage, and ultimately financial losses affecting both legal entities and individuals.

Security and privacy in the digital environment are based on protecting personal data, digital identities, and systems from unauthorised access, misuse, and harmful impacts. Digital identity shapes the way students learn, communicate, and present themselves to the world. As university instructors and staff, you serve as role models. By understanding the importance of digital identity, you can more effectively teach students and enhance their digital safety. Students are exposed daily to risks such as data theft and loss of privacy, though they may not know how to protect themselves. You can guide them in doing so. In this e-course, learn how to protect your own digital identity, and how to raise student awareness of online safety, responsibility, and professional behavior.   • Management and protection of digital resources and materials: 8 hours, 30 minutes

  • Evaluation of digital resources – criteria for assessing the security of digital tools and platforms: 7 hours, 50 minutes

  • Compliance with laws and regulations on copyright, data protection, and cybersecurity: 9 hours, 10 minutes

  • Digital literacy and student privacy: 9 hours, 45 minutes

  • Data storage and sharing in education – recommendations and tools: 11 hours, 15 minutes
