6. Using different formats and media

Do not rely on text alone! Combine various formats to make the content more engaging and accessible to students (Horton, 2011; Clark & Mayer, 2016; Mayer, 2021):

  • text (written clearly and simply);

  • images, tables, graphs;

  • videos;

  • interactive quizzes or simulations;

  • audio recordings.

Advantages of using different media:

  • easier retention of information;

  • increased motivation;

  • adaptation to students’ individual preferences (Horton, 2011; Clark & Mayer, 2016).
