In this activity, read the text Pedagogical Approach in Digital Education by P. Kirby, D. Popa, which provides an overview of key pedagogical approaches in digital education. The text was written in collaboration between two universities (Technological University of the Shannon and Transilvania University of Brașov) and provides a concise but comprehensive overview of contemporary teaching methods that combine traditional and digital elements.
The aim of the task is to understand how different pedagogical approaches can be applied in higher education and how technology can enhance the learning and teaching process. While reading, it is important to actively take notes on key concepts, examples and ideas that you can later connect to your own experience or teaching context. Notes can be in the form of short summaries, mind maps or tables that help compare the approaches and you will use them in activities such as the Flipped Classroom and PBL Discussion.
While reading, pay attention to the following topics:
- What is the pedagogical logic of each approach and how does it encourage active learning?
- What are the roles of the teacher and the student in each approach?
- How does technology support the application of each model (examples of digital tools, platforms or methods)?
- What are the advantages and limitations of a particular approach in the context of higher education?
- How can the approaches be interconnected to achieve greater learning efficiency and student engagement?
