Audacity is one of the most popular free audio recording and editing tools, allowing users to achieve professional results without the need for expensive software. In addition to basic recording and editing, the program offers the ability to cut, copy, merge, and mix multiple audio tracks, making it ideal for creating podcasts, music projects, or educational materials. In education, it is often used to record lectures, create audio guides, practice pronunciation or language skills, and as a tool for creative student projects, such as radio shows or audio presentations. In podcasting, it allows you to easily record voices, add background music, remove noise, and balance volume, all of which contribute to a professional-sounding final episode.
Its main features include:
- sound recording via microphone or mixer
- import and export of various audio formats (e.g. WAV, MP3, OGG)
- sound editing (cutting, copying, joining, multi-channel operation)
- application of effects (equalization, amplification, noise reduction, reverb, compression)
- sound analysis using spectrograms and visualization of waveforms
- support for add-ons (plug-ins) that extend processing capabilities.
Read the parts of the manual on the basics of working in the Audacity program (pages1-12, 15-17, 21-26, and 40-41). Then watch the video called How to create and edit audio in Audacity (video instructions).
Note: the parts of the Audacity manual related to the exercises themselves are related to the materials and files contained within SRCE course and are not available to you.
