The e-course is intended for the professional development of teachers in higher education, with the aim of understanding, designing, and implementing learning design.

Learning design includes planning learning and teaching activities, the necessary resources, student support, workload, assessment methods, and feedback. Learning analytics, especially learning design analytics, supports this process.

Throughout the e-course, various learning design models will be presented, including the ABC model and, in particular, the Balanced Design Planning (BDP) model. The course will also introduce the free BDP tool, available in both Croatian and English, which enables real-time collaboration and analytics. Learning design will serve as the foundation for creating instructional design in Moodle.

The e-course will cover:

  • concepts and models of learning design and instructional design

  • planning of teaching, learning activities, and assessment

  • analysis of digital tools in the context of learning design

  • development and implementation of learning design in a digital environment

  • evaluation of the outcomes of model implementation.

The e-course is based on an inquiry-based and problem-based approach with mentoring support. Participants will solve problem tasks by applying selected learning design models and will design learning, teaching, and assessment activities using at least one innovative method to achieve the planned learning outcomes.

  • apply an appropriate learning design and instructional design model for planning, developing, and creating teaching materials, activities, and assessment in a specific educational context

  • analyse a learning design model in a digital environment and educational context

  • create a learning design for specific learning outcomes and topics

  • connect learning, teaching, and assessment activities with appropriate digital technology in line with the learning design

  • develop teaching content tailored to the needs of the target group by applying learning design in a selected digital tool

  • evaluate digital technologies suitable for planning and delivering teaching in accordance with the learning design.

Design of teaching, learning, and assessment activities focused on the student: 17 h 15 min
Implementation of course learning design in the LMS: 10 h 5 min
Evaluation of the implementation of learning design using learning analytics: 9 h 15 min
Course conclusion: self-assessment of work and goals, course evaluation: 2 h 20 min
