Opening and describing a course in the ABC tool

The resources for this activity are available in English and this is not a mandatory activity. It is offered as an optional activity to broaden your perspective, if you wish.

The focus of this task is to create a course and describe it using the ABC model.

Use the model and materials available on the ABC tool webpage.

Instructions

1. Access the ABC tool or use alternative ways to develop a design based on the ABC model.
   Open the ABC model webpage where one version of the tool is available: Learning Designer or use another version of the tool.

2. Log in and create a new course

   • Log in (if required for the tool you are using, register first).

   • Select the option Create new course or write the basic information in Miro, Padlet, Jamboard, or Google Sheets:

   • • course title

     • study programme and level of study

     • course aim/description

     • course leader and members of the teaching team.

       Enter the basic information about the course.

3. Add basic information

   • Enter the course learning outcomes (at least three to five).

   • Describe the target group of students (e.g., year of study, prior knowledge, motivation).

   • Indicate the mode of delivery (face-to-face, online, hybrid).

   • Include any specific requirements or challenges (e.g., number of students, availability of digital tools).

4. Save and share the course

   • Save the completed course description.

   • If the tool allows it, share the link with your team members so they can participate in further activity design.

If you are designing learning according to the ABC model, keep in mind that ABC is not a comprehensive online tool like BDP, but rather a framework that can be applied using other digital collaboration tools.
For collaborative work, it is recommended to use Miro, Padlet, Jamboard, or Google Sheets, which allow visual planning of activities according to learning types (e.g., acquisition, discussion, collaboration, production).
It is important to maintain the logic of the ABC approach and link each activity with the corresponding learning outcomes.
