Resources and activities in the LMS Moodle

In this activity, you will explore the possibilities offered by the Moodle LMS as a platform for teaching and learning support.

The aim of the activity is to become familiar with the basic functionalities of Moodle so that you can later plan and create your own digital learning materials and integrate them into the LMS.

Instructions

Log in to the assigned LMS course on Moodle.

Explore and test the following functionalities:

Resources

• File (e.g., uploading a PDF or presentation)

• URL (linking to external content)

• Book (for structuring larger amounts of text into chapters)

• Page (simple HTML-based content)

• Lesson (non-linear learning through pages with questions and branching)

Activities

• Quiz (creating questions and tests)

• Forum (discussions, exchange of ideas)

• Assignment (submission of work, feedback)

• Lesson (combination of content and branching questions)

• Interactive content (e.g., H5P activities such as interactive videos, presentations, quizzes…)

Progress tracking

• Using completion tracking options

• Setting criteria for activity completion

During your exploration:

• Try adding at least one resource and one activity

• Observe how activity completion options are configured

• Think about how you could use these functionalities in your own course

Documenting your observations

Although you are not required to submit an assignment for this activity, it is recommended that you take notes during your exploration:

• What did you find most useful?

• Which functions did you discover for the first time?

• Which functionalities would you like to use in your own course?

• Do you have any questions or uncertainties about using Moodle?

These observations will help you in the upcoming tasks where you will create your own teaching materials and plan their integration into the LMS.
