E33VD_1: Draft of an Assessment Strategy in a Learning Design Tool / LMS

In this activity, you will have the opportunity to connect the theoretical knowledge about assessment with concrete practice in the context of your own course. The goal is to critically review and refine the assessment strategy within your course’s learning design. If you have already used a learning design tool (e.g., the BDP tool available for free at learning-design.eu), continue using it to revise your assessment strategy. Alternatively, you can begin your analysis by critically reviewing the existing assessment strategy in your LMS course (e.g., Moodle), if applicable. If neither applies, start creating your assessment strategy using the template provided below on this page.

This activity prepares you for the final assignment, in which you will present a complete and pedagogically grounded assessment plan for a digital learning environment.

Select one or more types of assessment

Based on your course and the intended learning outcomes, decide which types of assessment you need to use:

diagnostic, formative, and/or summative assessment
which methods and activities available in Moodle or other digital tools you can use:
- quizzes, e-portfolios, reflections, presentations, workshops, self-assessment, peer assessment, rubric-based assessment, etc.

Keep in mind the alignment between learning outcomes, activities, and assessment (constructive alignment).

Enter the assessment strategy into your learning design

Depending on your context:

If you are using the BDP tool (learning-design.eu), enter your assessment methods and tools into the corresponding fields of the design (learning and teaching activities).
If you are using an LMS, consider how specific activities (assignments, workshops, quizzes, forums, etc.) reflect your assessment strategy.
Record your assessment ideas and activities in a document (e.g., Google Doc).

Complete and document the draft assessment strategy

For this activity, prepare a written draft of your assessment strategy (you may use the template), which will serve as the basis for your final assignment.

What to record:

a draft of your assessment strategy (using the template above)
entry of planned ideas and activities into the learning design in the BDP tool, another learning-design tool, your LMS, or a separate document
keep in mind that you will be required to submit this documentation as part of the final assignment.
