Activity Description

This asynchronous discussion on the Forum allows you to reflect on and analyse how both the narrower and wider environments influence the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and systems in education. Through research, sharing experiences with colleagues, and using artificial intelligence, you are expected to develop a critical approach and reflective skills useful for the final paper in this e-course and for integrating artificial intelligence into your real educational environment.

Forum question: "Environment (micro level and macro level) as a support or barrier for the implementation of artificial intelligence tools and systems in education?"

  • During the discussion, the instructor (mentor for this e-course) adds sub-questions:

Ethics, finance, digital literacy, characteristics of participants/students, characteristics of the teaching subject, etc.

Activities:
    1. The Forum post must include:

      • A specific answer or perspective on the main question or a sub-question.

      • Cited sources (scientific literature, relevant online sources).

    2. Formulate answers using AI tools:

      • ChatGPT for generating answers and developing perspectives.

      • Perplexity AI or Bing AI (Copilot) for exploring how other educational institutions are applying AI.

      • Litmap (or alternative tools) for finding professional and scientific literature.

    3. Use an AI summarisation tool, such as Otter.ai, to extract key points from the discussion.
    4. Based on the discussion and with the help of the aforementioned AI tools, write a reflective text (150–200 words) in response to the question: How could I apply AI tools in my teaching environment? and publish it in your final message on the Forum.
Criteria Description Points Note
Participation in the discussion Active participation in the Discussion Forum, at least one post with a concrete answer or perspective on the main question or a sub-question 1 Partial participation (e.g., only one very short post) → 0.5 points; no posts → 0 points
Use of sources and AI tools Posts include cited relevant sources (scientific literature, online sources) and the use of at least one of the suggested AI tools (ChatGPT, Perplexity/Bing AI, Litmap, Otter.ai) 1 If sources are inadequate or an AI tool is not used → 0 points
Reflective response The reflective text (150–200 words) clearly links the discussion experience with the student’s own teaching environment and demonstrates a critical approach 1 If the reflection is very superficial or missing → 0 points

Total: 3 points
