Description

In this activity, you are required to create a short multimedia teaching resource that applies the principles of effective multimedia learning.

The goal of this task is to use digital tools to create content that is:

  • pedagogically meaningful,

  • visually appealing,

  • tailored to your target group of students.

The content you create should be related to your course or teaching context and must have a clearly defined educational purpose.

Instructions

  1. Choose a topic from your course or teaching context.

  2. Select one or more digital tools for creating multimedia content.

  3. Create a short multimedia learning resource, for example:

  • an educational video,

  • an interactive infographic,

  • audio instructions or a podcast,

  • a combined multimedia material.

  1. Complete the content description template and provide:

  • the title and type of material you created,

  • the target group and the context of use,

  • the learning outcome supported by the content,

  • the multimedia elements you used and the reasons for choosing them,

  • the applied multimedia learning principles (e.g., dual-channel processing, cognitive load reduction, segmentation).

  1. Provide a link to the created content if produced using an online tool, or upload the file directly within this activity.

Peer Assessment

After you submit your work, you will participate in the peer review of multimedia learning resources created by your colleagues.

Your task is to:

  • review the work of at least one colleague,

  • evaluate it based on the defined criteria,

  • provide constructive feedback (what works well, what could be improved).

The instructor will also review all submissions and provide additional comments.

Assessment Criteria

Clarity and appropriateness of educational purpose and target group
• Is the content tailored to the target group? Is the educational purpose clear?

Alignment with the defined learning outcome
• Is it clear which learning outcome the content supports?

Application of multimedia learning principles
• Are relevant principles applied (e.g., dual-channel processing, avoiding irrelevant information, clear visual hierarchy)?

Pedagogical value and learner engagement
• Does the content encourage active participation or deeper understanding?

Effectiveness of multimedia elements used
• Are visual, audio, or interactive elements purposeful and functional?

Visual and technical quality of the content
• Is the resource clear, aesthetically appealing, and technically correct?

Suggestions for improvement
• Are concrete and useful improvement suggestions provided?
