Hybrid teaching

Hybrid teaching is a combination of traditional face-to-face teaching and distance learning using digital technologies. We distinguish between asynchronous and synchronous hybrid teaching.

In asynchronous hybrid teaching, the physical and virtual environments alternate, with some activities being live and some online. For example, the introductory lecture and the final lecture are live in the classroom, and the rest of the course is online. This teaching is also called blended learning.

In recent times, hybrid teaching often includes synchronous hybrid teaching, i.e. simultaneous live and online teaching. For example, a teacher broadcasts a classroom lecture online, so some students attend live and some students participate online.

HyFlex

HyFlex is a type of teaching that allows students to choose whether to attend classes in a classroom, synchronously online, or asynchronously, and to change their mode of attendance on a daily basis.
