T1 The importance of adapting education to the digital age, national and European strategies and documents related to digital education
This thematic unit focuses on understanding the broader context of the digital transformation of education in the higher education system. Three interconnected units are covered, which enable participants to consider the challenges and opportunities of digital education from the perspectives of teachers, educational institutions and strategic frameworks at national and European levels.
While working on different types of content, including texts, forums, tasks and knowledge assessments, you will have the opportunity to critically reflect on your own practice, connect it to broader policies and standards, and identify potential for improving the quality of teaching in the digital age.
The first unit is dedicated to the digital transformation in education. Within this unit, you will be introduced to the basic concepts and processes in the text "Integration of technology into learning and teaching", then you will analyse and comment on the content in the forum discussion, and then you will read the text "Educational institutions and the information revolution" which provides a broader context of changes in higher education. At the end, you will be able to check your understanding through a short review task.
The second unit focuses on national and European strategies and documents that shape the development of digital education. You will become familiar with key documents, analyse their implementation through an assignment, share your experiences in a discussion and check your understanding with a short test.
The third unit deals with quality assurance in education in the digital age. You will read selected texts and documents related to European standards and quality guidelines, consider your own institution's compliance with certain standards and discuss the challenges of implementing these principles in your own environment. The unit ends with a knowledge test.
This thematic unit not only provides the theoretical and strategic foundations of digital education, but also invites you to actively participate and reflect on your own role in the process of digital transformation.
