Using the CheckIN tool allows HEI teachers to better understand their own digital competences and identify areas where they can improve. Self-reflection on digital skills is important because it helps in planning professional development and adapting teaching approaches to the modern needs of students. The tool offers a structured overview of competences that are key to quality teaching in hybrid and online environments. The results of the self-assessment can serve as a starting point for participation in training programmes and for the creation of a personal digital competence development plan. In addition, by using CheckIN, teachers contribute to the broader institutional goal of strengthening digital maturity and a culture of innovation in higher education.
Check your digital competences using the CheckIN tool — a self-reflection tool for higher education professionals, based on the European Digital Competence Framework for Teachers (DigCompEdu, JRC 2017). The model consists of 22 competences organised into six domains. The competences are described at six different skill levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2. An additional seventh domain is included: Open Education (so-called OE). It is based on the OpenEdu Framework (JRC 2016, 2019), from which three dimensions are addressed: open educational resources and materials (OER), open educational practices (OEP) and open science.
