Massive Open Online Courses

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are courses available online and are free of charge. MOOCs are offered by universities, educational institutions or online platforms (e.g. Coursera, edX, FutureLearn, Udemy). MOOCs can be attended by a large number of students, from a few hundred to more than ten thousand students at a time. MOOCs represent a revolution in access to education, opening up opportunities for lifelong learning, international collaboration and professional development without geographical or institutional limitations. Although they do not replace classical studies, MOOCs complement traditional education with a flexible, accessible and modern way of acquiring knowledge.
