Self-Assessment and Peer Review: Analysis of Digital Content

In this activity, you will analyse a piece of digital teaching content using the principles introduced in previous lessons.

You may either:

• create a new piece of digital teaching content (e.g., a short presentation, video, quiz, or a lesson in an LMS),
  or

• select an existing piece of content, your own or someone else’s, that you are permitted to use or share (pay attention to copyright).

Instructions

For the selected content, prepare a short analysis following the structure below:

1. Brief description of the content

• Identify the type of material (e.g., video, presentation, interactive lesson).

• State the topic of the content.

• Describe the context in which it is or would be used (e.g., course, target group, online or hybrid learning).

2. Identification of one learning outcome

• Specify one learning outcome that this content supports.

3. Evaluation of alignment between the content and the learning outcome

• Assess how well the content helps students achieve the selected learning outcome.

• Provide specific examples or elements from the content that demonstrate this alignment.

4. Proposal for assessing the learning outcome

• Suggest how you would verify that the outcome has been achieved.

• Specify the type of activity, tool, or assignment you would use (e.g., LMS quiz, practical task, discussion).

5. Proposal for improving the content

• Suggest at least one modification or enhancement that would make the content more engaging, interactive, accessible, or better aligned with the learning outcome.

Evaluation and Self-Assessment

After submitting your work, you will participate in a workshop in which you will:

• conduct a self-assessment of your analysis using defined criteria

• read the work of other participants

• evaluate at least one analysis written by a peer using the same criteria

• receive feedback on your own work

The instructor will also evaluate all submitted tasks and provide additional comments.

Evaluation Criteria

Your work will be assessed according to the following criteria:

Clarity and completeness of the analysis

• Is the description clear, concise, and informative?

• Have all required elements been provided (material type, topic, context of use, learning outcome)?

Alignment with the learning outcome

• Is the learning outcome clearly identified and relevant to the selected content?

• Does the analysis demonstrate an understanding of the connection between the content and the intended outcome?

Critical thinking and justification

• Are arguments and assessments well-explained and supported by specific examples from the content?

• Does the analysis reflect consideration of pedagogical and didactic aspects (e.g., clarity, level of engagement, appropriateness of activities)?

Quality of the assessment proposal

• Are the proposed assessment methods meaningful and aligned with the learning outcome?

• Do they reflect an understanding of how assessment supports learning?

Quality of the improvement proposal

• Is the suggested enhancement realistic, specific, and aimed at improving quality, interactivity, or alignment with the outcome?

• Does it show reflection and the ability to critically evaluate the material?

Language and technical accuracy

• Is the text clearly written, grammatically correct, and well-structured?

• Is the work visually neat and formatted correctly according to the template?
