Peer Assessment: Visually Designed Teaching Content

In this activity, you will choose one of your existing teaching materials (e.g., a presentation, LMS page, LMS book, or another digital content) and redesign it according to the visual design and accessibility principles covered in this unit.

The aim of this task is to improve the visual quality and accessibility of your teaching material so that it becomes clearer, more readable, and better adapted to your target group of students.

What do you need to do?

Your work must include the following elements:

Short description of the original material

• topic of the material

• context of use (e.g., course, online/hybrid mode)

• target group (e.g., first-year students)

Identification of problems in the original visual layout

Examples include:

• too much text

• poor contrast

• illegible font

• cluttered layout

• visual overload

Creation of the redesigned version

Consider:

• choice of colours and contrast

• typography and readability

• structure and arrangement of elements

• visual hierarchy

• accessibility features

Apply good design principles.

Reflection

Explain:

• which visual design principles you applied

• why you chose these changes

• how you believe the redesign will support your students’ learning

If you wish, you may include before/after comparisons (e.g., images or screenshots) to clearly show the improvements.

Submission

Use the provided template to create your assignment.
Submit your work as a Word document or PDF via this activity.

Attach the redesigned version of your teaching material as a file (e.g., PDF, slides).
If the material was created using an online tool, include the link in your document.

Peer Review

After submitting your work, you will take part in peer assessment.

Your task is to:

• review the submission of at least one colleague

• analyse it according to the criteria

• write constructive feedback (what is good, what could be improved)

The instructor will also evaluate all submissions and provide additional comments.

• Are colours and visuals used harmoniously and purposefully?

• Does the work demonstrate personal style, creative solutions, or new ideas?
